Please silence your cell phones and beepers before you enter the court room. If they go off while someone is speaking, you will be asked to leave and the court will be notified that you did not complete this part of your sentence.
Remember, the people who are speaking to you are there because it is important to them that we end the cycle of drunk driving accidents, injuries and deaths. Many of them have lost loved ones. Please show them the courtesy and respect that they deserve.
- What if I can't make it to the Victim Impact Panel?
We can not excuse you from attending. Only the court that sentenced you can. If you do not attened as scheduled, it may be considered a failure to complete your sentence.
- What should I wear?
You should dress appropriatley for a court appearence. Do NOT show up in your pajamas.
- What time should I arrive?
The doors lock at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early so that you can check in.
- How much is the fee and how can I pay?
The fee is currently $25.00 and we only accept cash. No checks will be accepted.
- Can I bring a friend?
No, only people sentenced can attend. If you need assistance from someone for some type of special need, let us know at the door.
- What if I have been drinking?
The Victim Impact Panel is administered by on-duty police officers. If we detect alcohol on your breath, we will give you a breath test and a positive result can mean that you will be denied entry and your court will be notified.
- What should I bring with me?
The only thing you need is the $25.00 fee. Do not bring newspapers or magazines, food or drinks. There is no gum chewing in the court room.
- Who are the speakers?
Speakers change each month. We have a variety of people including offenders, victims and criminal justice professionals.
- How long does it take?
Less than a jail term, but usually about one and a half hours.
